 Overview

 TheUpTurn will serve all primary residential real estate stakeholders: consumers including would-be buyers, would-be sellers, renters, owners, casual browsers, and real estate enthusiasts, along with professionals including agents and brokers. TheUpTurn will also directly or indirectly serve all those with a vested interest in residential real estate: the home improvement industry, the mortgage industry, banks, legal, inspectors, contractors and other real estate-dependent economies.

 


Leadership

Jeffrey M. Eckman, CEO

 Jeff Eckman founded Blue Green Ventures (BGV) in 2008, and has over 15 years of leadership experience in technology, media, and healthcare. Jeff’s background includes a mix of operational, business development, and consulting practice from his work with public, private, and pre-IPO companies, coupled with research and design of organizational strategy and systems in rapid growth contexts.

Prior to starting BGV, Mr. Eckman worked for several Fortune 500 companies including Viacom and Wyeth, as well as serving in management and consulting capacities with SMBs ion interactive, Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals, and Three Lens Advisors.
 
While at MIT Sloan, Mr. Eckman worked under the tuition of the Organizational Studies Group to research and write “Diverse Perspectives on Human Capital Management” which examined organizational success factors, surveying regional and global firms and general managers. Jeff has served on the Board of the Human Resources Council, Bookbuilders of Boston, and is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery. For over 11 years, Jeff has been the drummer for Boston’s “Pressure Cooker” an original reggae act, and is actively involved in community non-profit organizations. Mr. Eckman is a summa cum laude graduate of Northeastern University where he earned his BS in Operations Technology, and holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
 
Stefania Mitrano, Executive Director, Projects & Client Services

Stefania Mitrano is the Executive Director of Projects and Client Services at BGV. She is a leader in operations management and a successful entrepreneur with over 15 years experience in small business settings. Continuing a legacy of family entrepreneurship, Stefania has experience in early stage businesses, and has been a key contributor to rapid organizational growth and development. She has over 10 years experience in production and design, and her diverse background includes technology, education, hospitality, publishing, specialty retail, and e-commerce.
 
Prior to BGV, Stefania was Director of Production at an educational software company where she led large and diverse teams responsible for the design, content, production and quality assurance of cutting edge learning technology products. She has worked on a multitude of learning applications, platforms and delivery systems and has provided services for Fortune 500 companies such as Pearson and McGraw-Hill.
 
Scott Shunk, Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development

Scott Shunk is an award winning developer of interactive media and technology products for commerce and content delivery. Shunk has led the development of large-scale projects from creative to technical, bringing successful products to fruition from concept to release. Currently he serves as Director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Visualizing Cultures project, a flagship program of OpenCourseWare, MIT’s open education initiative.
 
Prior to MIT he was a Principal at Botticelli Interactive where he produced numerous technology products for Fortune 500 businesses including Apple, Microsoft, AT&T, Motorola and Oracle. Scott has developed innovative media products with long-term strategic and financial value for companies and organizations ranging from the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Science Foundation to HBO and the Government of China.
 
Mr. Shunk has led teams in emerging media projects including interactive television, kiosk design and online development to create innovative, cutting-edge content and technology. Shunk holds a BS in Management, summa cum laude, from Boston University.
 
Bernard DeCunha, Executive Vice President and General Manager

Bernard DeCunha has 20 years of experience across the U.S., India, Dubai and Canada helping Fortune 100 businesses with outsourcing strategy, program management, client services and executive relationship management.
 
Mr. DeCunha’s experience includes over five years with Infosys providing enterprise consulting and technology services. At Infosys he established and grew a key relationship from $0 to a run rate of $7M annually in less than two years, and renegotiated a $25M contract for one of the firm’s top three accounts. Instrumental in developing Infosys’ healthcare business unit, Bernard managed major accounts including Aetna and WellPoint.
 
Mr. DeCunha began his career at Xerox serving in roles of increasing responsibility over a period of 10 years. After Xerox, Bernard spent several years at Kodak focusing on client acquisition and business development, and later was eBusiness Program Manager for Life and Disability and UniCare business units of WellPoint. He also founded the Boston office for Polaris Software Labs and developed the firm’s first relationships in New England.
 
Mr. DeCunha holds a BA in Economics from University of Mumbai, is active in urban affairs as a member of GreenSpace and The Chelsea Collaborative, and has served on the Chelsea City Planning Board, Chelsea, Massachusetts.

Julia Miller, Business Development Intern
Julia Miller is the Business Development Intern at The UpTurn, Inc. Julia is a 2008 cum laude graduate of Tufts University, where she earned a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies.
